For lunch today my host mother made chicken nuggets and french fries!!! She even ate some too with rice of course. She sat at the table and ate lunch with me which shows that she cares. She is so busy I normally eat dinner with her but only about three times have I got to sit down and eat lunch with her. We attempted to watch New Moon last night but we borrowed a copy from her friend and realized it was all in Thai no subtitles so instead we attempted to watch Prince Of Persia and about an hour into it we were both asleep. So she woke me up and we took it out and went to bed. Just not my type of movie. We will try to get a copy of it tonight in English. After aerobics of course. I'm so full or as you would say in Thai (Im laeo ka) meaning I'm full and ended in ka for respect and khab for males. I'm am still tired from the RYLA as I only got about 7 hours of sleep in the four days I was there. Which after three cups of coffee a day didn't effect me until I got home. I sleep in until about nine and then get up even if I could sleep later and don't have anything I need to get up for. Thais don't really sleep in, they are always up early. My host mother for example is up at 3 or 4 every morning. So after getting up and hand washing clothes I take them outside to hang dry, go back inside and shower. Thais take two showers a day so I come accustomed to doing it as well. However most of them only wash their hair every other day. If I did that my hair would be so nasty. I get up and stay busy until lunch and then to catch up on my sleep I take a nap. I wake up in time to read or something and then get ready and go to aerobics and dinner etc. The past few nights I've been watching Thai Soap Operas with my host family. It's a good way to pick up Thai and to learn about the culture. They are so funny and very over dramatic and cheesy but I enjoy them. I also have started to watch the news and my host mother translates for me so I can keep up on the happenings of Thailand. I started watching the movie Leap Year yesterday and only have about half an hour which I will go finish now and then take my daily nap.

You know, Asian people are always very small and somewhat thin. You almost never see an overweight person there. I noticed this when I lived in Japan. One would think that with all the rice they eat that they'd weigh 300 pounds. It must be all of the fruit and veggies that they eat.
ReplyDeleteGlad that you're bonding with your host family though. Watching the Thai soap operas is a great way to get used to the language. We used to watch the Japanese soaps and you really don't need to speak the language to know what's going on. Some things just don't change from country to country.
