My New Host Family

I just recently switched hosts completely, not to the other hosts that were related to my first mother but to a totally new family. Long story short I had some miscommunication and it didn't workout. So I am now living in a traditional Thai style house. It has an open first floor and a kitchen where I need to duck down the entire time. There are two rooms upstairs and one of them is mine. All that is in my room is a mattress on the floor and a fan. There is no air-conditioning, which is fine now but the hottest is still to come. I have no flushing toilet or Internet at home and the shower has next to no water pressure. I will have to get used to it. My new mom is a kindergarten teacher at my school and my father is a police man. They have a baby that they take care of at night and bring to grandpa and grandmas during the day. She is almost one. They are also taking care of an 18 yr old student that goes to the other school in Chiang Kham. They are a loving family but there is no maid so I will have to help out and clean the house up more, which I am fine with. The tricky thing is none of them speak English so my Thai will have to improve a lot. Right now I can barely understand what she is telling me. She is loving and keeps me fed and even gives me a goodnight hug. It will take time but I think I can get used to this.

Until Later, Dacotah Smith
