I am now in Chiang Mai with my friend Mai Tai. Today we took the bus here and then walked to the mall and got our nails painted for 3 dollars before Mai Tai did a bunch of shopping and we came home. For dinner we walked across to the street and I had fish with curry and a strawberry smoothie. Her dad took us and it was nice bonding time for all of us. We finally found out his occupation. The cool thing is she is from Texas and he used to live and actually got his degree there, so of course we spoke only English...oooo well. Her host dad told me I was welcome to stay until I leave on the 19th. However I plan on staying through the weekend to get to go to walking street street one last time. On Monday I will take the bus back and spending the last 5 days with my family. Rotary is having a goodbye party for me where I will receive my certificate of exchange and of course take a picture with my club. After that I don't have much planned except to spend as much family time as I can. My three original host mothers will be driving me to the airport in Chiang Mai on the 19th. From there I will fly to Korea and spend a 12 hour layover with Mai Tai before splitting up. I will then fly to Seattle and go out to lunch with Alison Boman and her mother. After that it's home sweet home. I'm sad that I missed my brothers graduation and all that it entailed but I know I will be home before I know it.
12 Days!
Exciting plans for your "last days"! Hope everything goes well. We got to enjoy some great Kansas City barbecue at Crosby's party on Saturday. It was a big success! I'm sure you're looking forward to being back in the US, but you'll miss Thailand and all the friends you've made when you leave. Be safe!
