My First Day In Chiang Rai

So after Skyping with my family last night I went to bed and got up at 9 a.m. I got dressed and then my mock host mother took me to a very very nice coffee shop and I got an iced coffee and a panini. After that I headed to school where I made lots of new friends and learned Thai all afternoon. I got picked up at 3 which was so nice to get done so early. At lunch I was the first to sit on this very old bench and it broke right under me. It was so embarrassing but o well. I was invited to go to the Walking Street this Saturday but I'm busy with the other YE's that are coming. I guess we will be traveling around. So next weekend I will go with them hopefully and maybe on Sunday I'm going to go bowling with my new friends from school. Tomorrow is a half day so after school the lady I'm staying with is taking me and Remi to go visit a hill tribe village. This is sooo cool. She has a daughter in Bangkok and said that when her daughter has extra time she will let me know and I can go stay with her in Bangkok. She also said if I learn more Thai I could maybe talk Nayiana into letting me take the bus to come up to Chiang Rai or to Chiang Mai etc. This has given me new hope I just studied Thai all day at school today. I hope I can pick up a lot so that I can partake in the opportunities presented.

Until Later, Dacotah Smith

P.S. I'll be on Skype every morning for U.S. time zones so if anyone wants to talk just give me a call!
