This week I'm not really doing anything, just relaxing watching american t.v. shows that I have downloaded and enjoying Thailand. I can do whatever I want during they day and at night I play with my baby host sister and hang with the family. I guess we have a green mango tree in our yard. Last night my host dad climbed the tree and picked me some mangoes. I also went around town with my host mom on the back of her motorcycle as we went and got snacks for the baby and me. I'm currently hanging out at Joe's school just using the internet to watch shows and check my email. A lady rented the space next door and is turning it into a little shop and I just spotted some cute wallets that I might have to check out once she gets everything settled. Yesterday I was so bored and since I really need a summer job as soon as I get back, I spent all day applying to eleven different places. I know it's crazy but I figured the more I apply to the better chance of getting a job I have.
I'm starting to prepare for going back home. Yesterday I was going to start my packing process but one thing led to another and then my friend called and needless to say it never happened. Since I have decided to leave a lot of my clothes here, I was going to pack the ones that I'm bringing back and wear all of the ones I'm not, so they get more worn out and I don't feel so bad leaving them. With different people washing my clothes and me hand washing some of them, most of my t-shirts are trashed and my Capri's are stained with blue ink from something on southern trip. I have also sweat in most of my comfy clothes that I wear everyday so those I am leaving. This way hopefully I'll have some extra space in my suitcases, so I can go and get last minute treats and gifts. I have bought a lot of gifts here so I hope it all fits. All in all this pre-packing will only take two hours but it's the procrastination that will make it take forever. As my time is winding down I feel myself reflecting on all that I've learned and just wanting to soak in all that I have left. I walk to Joe's school everyday and everyday all of the neighbors say hi and ask where I'm going. This is one reason I'm glad I was put in a small city. I've built a community and it feels like more of a home than the big city that my friends all live in. When my friend from Texas came to visit she looked at me and said, "Dacotah this feels like more of a home than I've ever had in Thailand and I've only been here 2 hours." She liked my sleepy little town where we really didn't do much, so much that once she travels with her family around Thailand she wants to come back and stay with me before we both leave Thailand together. Well on that note I'm off to shop for a new wallet.
Until Later, Dacotah Smith
