The concept of Face

One thing I've learned since being here is that the Thai culture will do anything and everything to preserve face. This means they won't confront someone if they have a problem, instead this will just let it go on. They don't get mad or loose their temper, it's just absolutely unheard of. A complete change from the U.S. where the freedom of speech means we can get mad and express all of our feelings whenever and wherever we want. While one of the reasons I choose to do exchange was so that I'd grow and be forced to be more confrontational and unfortunately I don't think that will be happening here anytime soon. Just an interesting and different lifestyle.
